COVID update 16-02-21

The Junta de Andalucía website today brings a lot of positive news as all of towns I report on have seen a drop in their active case figures and Los Gallardos, Turre, and Mojácar join Bédar in the “below 1000 cases per 100.000 population” category.

In the last 24 hours Almería in total has reported 132 new cases, 417 cured cases and 20 deaths.

Only 11 new cases have been reported in the six towns with 1 in Los Gallardos, and 5 each in Vera and Garrucha.

The number of cured cases across the six towns total 91; with 7 in Los Gallardos, 17 in Turre, 12 in Mojácar, 23 in Vera, 30 in Garrucha and 2 in Bédar.

Sadly 3 more lives have been lost, 2 in Mojácar and 1 in Garrucha.

If any of the town’s figures are below 1000 per 100,000 on Thursday then they will be discussed in the government meeting to decide if the town can reopen its non-essential businesses from Saturday 20th. Any town dropping below 500 will be considered for having their perimeters opened.

Here are the latest figures with yesterday’s figures in (brackets).

Los Gallardos - Total number of cases 233 (232), cured cases 176 (169), active cases 53 (59), deaths 4 (4) and 964.9 per 100.000 (1033.8).

Turre - Total number of cases 254 (254), cured cases 166 (149), active cases 85 (102), deaths 3 (3) and 925.7 per 100.000 (1005).

Mojácar - Total number of cases 530 (530), cured cases 308 (296), active cases 208 (222), deaths 14 (12) and 752.4 per 100.000 (841).

Vera - Total number of cases 1363 (1358), cured cases 963 (940), active cases 382 (400), deaths 18 (18) and 1212 per 100.000 (1359.1).

Garrucha - Total number of cases 575 (570), cured cases 384 (354), active cases 186 (212), deaths 5 (4) and 1029.4 per 100.000 (1134.5).

Bédar - Total number of cases 28 (28), cured cases 19 (17), active cases 9 (11), deaths 0 (0) and 508.1 per 100.000 (508.1).

Stay safe everybody.

UPDATE - The Junta announces that the Committee of Experts will not meet on Thursday this week and therefore current restrictions on non-essential business closures and perimeter closures will not change on Saturday. The current restrictions will remain in place until 27th February by which time new measures will normally have been announced.
