The second graph shows how the number of cases recorded in the last 14 and 7 days have dropped after the peak at the beginning of February.
These are positive signs but we all know how soon things can change so please stay safe and do all of the things that are asked of us, i.e. wash hands, wear a mask and keep social distances.

COVID update 18-03-2021

For the fourth day, according to the Junta de Andalucía website, the only change in the numbers for Los Gallardos is that of the cured cases and today we see 1 more. As a result of this, the figure per 100.000 population in the last fourteen days has dropped from 241.2 to 206.8. We now have 6 cases registered in the last 14 days and zero in the last 7 days. Here are the latest figures for Los Gallardos with yesterday’s figures in (brackets). Total number of cases 250 (250), cured cases 227 (226), active cases 19 (20), deaths 4 (4) and 206.8 per 100.000 (241.2). Stay safe everybody.

Confirmation on closures and other questions.

Having received messages this morning asking if Los Gallardos perimeter is closing “no, it is not”, well not for the foreseeable future I hope.

I have also been asked “What is CCAA?” – as written in the latest announcement from the Junta de Andalucía. This means Comunidades Autónomas or Autonomous Communities.

At this time the only municipality (town) within our neighbouring ones with a closed perimeter is Antas as the infection rate per 100.000 population in the last 14 days is 543.

The new regulations that come in to force from tomorrow morning include rules that have been in place for the last few weeks.

If a municipality has an infection rate of more than 500 per 100.000 population in the last 14 days then the perimeter of that municipality will be closed.

If a municipality has an infection rate of more than 1000 per 100.000 population in the last 14 days then the perimeter of that municipality will be closed AND non-essential business will be closed.

Los Gallardos is a Municipality (or town as it has a town hall / Ayuntamiento).

Los Gallardos is a Municipality in the Province of Almería. Almería has 102 Municipalities.

Almería is a Province in the Autonomous Community of Andalucía. Andalucía has 8 Provinces.

The closures that effect us at the moment are not being able to travel outside of our Province (i.e. Almería) or Autonomous Community (i.e. Andalucía) without a valid reason such as medical and legal.

Can you go to Almería city shopping? Yes, as Almería is in the Province of Almería the same as Los Gallardos.

Can you go to IKEA in Murcia? No, because Murcia is outside of the Autonomous Community of Andalucía.

I hope this helps to clarify things.

Los Gallardos Friday Figures

At the end of the week we see a slight inflection on the blue total number of cases line with having had 6 new cases reported since last Friday. This is the highest weekly increase since 19th February when there were 13. The brown number cured cases line has flattened this week as only 2 have been reported which is the lowest weekly increase since 29th January when there were 6. Again, this stresses that we have more work to do. Stay safe everybody.

COVID update 12-03-2021

This weekend marks 12 months since the start of the pandemic in our region of Spain. I probably do not need to remind you that on the evening of Friday 13th March videos were being posted on Facebook of police driving around Vera announcing through their speakers “Go home, stay home”. On the Saturday morning Pedro Sánchez announced that a lockdown would commence on Sunday and then later on the Saturday afternoon it was brought forward and was in place with immediate effect. Wow, what a year it has been since then! First up to break the boredom was Andrew Shep Pearson entertaining us with his Freddie Mercury impression Andrew Shep pearson and of course Anne Anstey entertained Huerta Nueva from her solarium on a Saturday afternoon singing “Oh this year we’re off to sunny Spain”. I am sure there is some irony in there somewhere! Anne Anstey For many weeks on a nightly basis we applauded our frontline workers and one person per household went to do a weekly shop. Has it all come flooding back? 12 months on and it certainly is not over is it? The vaccinations are slowly starting to roll out and hopefully these will make the light at the end of the tunnel shine larger and brighter. In the meantime all we can do is follow the rules that are in place and then hopefully we will get back to some better sort of normal where we can travel again and see family and friends that we have missed for so long. Anyway, without further waffle from me, with figures from the Junta de Andalucía website, I can tell you that 1 more new case has been recorded in Los Gallardos since yesterday and no more cured cases recorded. As a result of this new case we are now at 241.2 per 100.000 recorded in the last 14 days with 7 cases recorded in the last 14 days and 5 in the last 7. Here are the latest figures for Los Gallardos with yesterday’s figures in (round brackets) and Friday 5th in [square brackets]. Total number of cases 250 (249) [244], cured cases 222 (222) [220], active cases 24 (23) [20], deaths 4 (4) [4] and 241.2 per 100.000 (206.8) [172.3]. Have a good weekend everybody and stay safe.

COVID (early) update 12-03-2021

Good morning everyone. Further to my update last night, the figures on the Junta de Andalucía website have just been updated (07:00) to what was reported at around 14:00 yesterday. Los Gallardos has had a total of 249 cases (up 3 from Wednesday), 222 cured cases (no change) and 23 active cases (up 3 from Wednesday) and 206.8 per 100.000 population (doubled from Wednesday). Regardless of the figures, Los Gallardos along with most other municipalities in the Levante-Alto Almanzora region will remain in Level 3 for another week. This means that non-essential businesses will still have to close at 18:00 and the curfew from 10:00 until 06:00 remains the same. Antas, Líjar and Pulpí have gone above 500 cases per 100.000 population in the last 14 days and their perimeters are now closed. For confirmation on which perimeters are open and closed click on the following link Perimeters I will update you with any further changes at some point later today.

COVID update 11-03-2021

UPDATE 18:00 . . .

For some reason that I am not certain of, today's numbers (that you will see below) on the Junta de Andalucía website have reverted to yesterday's figures.

This is very strange and I will keep an eye on it and update you either later this evening or tomorrow.

The following was posted earlier today.

The news today for Los Gallardos, according to the Junta de Andalucía website, is not good as it sees 3 news cases recorded since yesterday and as a result of that the figure per 100.000 population in the last fourteen days has doubled to 206.8 from 103.4 yesterday.

No cured cases have been recorded and we currently have 6 cases registered in the last 14 days compared to 3 yesterday, and 5 in the last 7 days compared to 3 yesterday.

If the figure of 150 cases per 100.000 population in the last 14 days is still being used by the committee to determine lifting of restrictions then Los Gallardos will now not be included and neither will Mojácar, Vera and Garrucha. Turre with 79.3 and Bédar with 101.6 will be included.

Here are the latest figures for Los Gallardos with yesterday’s figures in (brackets).

Total number of cases 249 (246), cured cases 222 (222), active cases 23 (20), deaths 4 (4) and 206.8 per 100.000 (103.4).

Stay safe everybody.

Wednesday, March 10, 2021

COVID update 10-03-2021

According to the Junta de Andalucía website, Los Gallardos sees no new and cured cases registered since yesterday.

The figure per 100.000 population in the last 14 days has decreased to 103.4 from 172.3 yesterday and we currently have 3 cases registered in the last 14 days compared to 5 yesterday and 3 in the last 7 days which is the same as yesterday.

Here are the latest figures for Los Gallardos with yesterday’s figures in (brackets).

Total number of cases 246 (246), cured cases 222 (222), active cases 20 (20), deaths 4 (4) and 103.4 per 100.000 (172.3).

The committee should meet tomorrow and if the Los Gallardos figure per 100.000 per population in the last 14 days is below 150 then we could be moved to Tier 2 with further restrictions lifted.

Stay safe everybody.

COVID update 05-03-2021

Hi everybody. Before I get to today’s figures I want to let you know that this will be my last regular COVID update. I have been doing 5 updates per week since November and what were originally short posts about Los Gallardos have grown in to more comprehensive breakdowns of what is happening not only in Los Gallardos but also across our neighbouring towns. As you can probably appreciate, they do take time to prepare and publish, not only on Facebook but also on https://huertanueva.blogspot.com and I have managed to do them alongside of working which has become more difficult in recent weeks. As we now enter a new phase of “normal” and our business is getting busier I need to focus on that, so unless something happens affecting us all then I will sign out with this post today. I will however continue to share posts I see that I feel are relative to the forum members. I know from the responses and messages I have received that my updates have been welcomed and appreciated by many of you. As for your questions on the forum and also private messages and in person, I have tried to answer them the best I can and if I could not then I hope I sent you in the right direction to get them answered. "End of the perimeter closure in Vera, Garrucha, Vélez-Rubio and six more municipalities from this Friday.

The residents of Balanegra, Felix, Los Gallardos, Lúcar, Ohanes and Urrácal will also be able to leave their towns.
Nine municipalities say goodbye to the perimeter closure this Friday, March 5. They have managed to drop below 500 cases per 100,000 people, so the Territorial Committee for High Impact Public Health Alert has decreed that they stop having this restrictive measure.
The residents of Balanegra, Felix, Los Gallardos, Garrucha, Lúcar, Ohanes, Urrácal, Vélez-Rubio, Vera will be able to leave their municipalities and move through almost the entire province of Almería after a long time in some of the cases.
However, there are five towns that will continue with the perimeter confinement for another week, as its incidence continues to be very high. They are Líjar and Instinción (where non-essential shops are also closed), as well as Paterna del Río, Pulpí and Viator. The inhabitants of these municipalities will not be able to leave their municipal area, nor will visitors from other parts of the province enter.
Store hours: 6:00 p.m.
On the other hand, the Territorial Committee for High Impact Public Health Alert of the province of Almería, chaired by the territorial delegate for Health and Families in Almería, Juan de la Cruz Belmonte, has established the alert levels for each health district.
In Alert 4 Grade 1, the Poniente Sanitary District will follow. For its part, it is proposed to declare Alert Level 3 Grade 1 to the Almería Health District and the North Health Management Area of Almería, with the exception of the municipalities of Instinción and Líjar.
This means that in all the municipalities of the province the closure of establishments continues at 6:00 p.m., except for the usual exceptions (food, funeral homes, etc.). In order to extend the opening until 9:30 p.m., it is necessary to go to alert level 2, something that has not happened in Almería. We will have to wait at least one more week."

COVID update 04-03-2021

The Junta de Andalucía website today reports in Almería 63 new cases (63 yesterday), 222 cured cases (315 yesterday) and 8 deaths (10 yesterday) in the last 24 hours. The rate per 100.000 population has dropped from 250.6 to 242.3.

Changes in the six towns that I report on are small today.

13 new cases have been reported with 2 in Mojácar, 9 in Vera and 2 in Garrucha.

No cured cases have been recorded and Mojácar has recorded 1 more death.

In Los Gallardos the infection rate per 100.000 population over the last 14 days has dropped to 137.8 which could see us being put in to tier 2 with more restrictions being lifted. At this time (12:05) the perimeters are still closed and bars have to close at 18:00.

Here are the latest figures with yesterday’s figures in (brackets).
