Los Gallardos Fiesta 2021 • Opening night • Thursday 15th July 2021

After 16 months of sharing photographic memories of fiestas, last night was my first opportunity to make some new images as Los Gallardos is holding its annual fiesta in Honour of its Patron Saint, Virgen del Carmen.
In a socially distanced, mask wearing way, the fiesta was opened by the Mayor of Los Gallardos, Francisco Miguel Reyes Martin.
With the Plaza de Andalucía set out with seating akin to a theatre rather than the norm of the chiringuitos, the coloured lanterns gave light and the music that followed the opening speeches gave a feeling that normality is returning.
This year we will not see all of the street market stalls, nor all of the fairground rides and music venues but we have something and surely 25% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
The Town Hall of Los Gallardos has stressed that the planned events will take place according to COVID protocols and although masks are not mandatory outside they have requested that people wear them and last night this request was most certainly observed.
Today is a bank holiday in Los Gallardos and the fiesta will be continuing until Sunday evening with various events happening around the village and at the bars. More photos will follow!
Have a good weekend everyone, stay safe and happy holidays . . . ¡¡Felices Fiestas!!
