COVID update 18-02-2021
Today Almería has registered 178 more new cases (17 less than yesterday), 302 cured cases (41 less than yesterday) and 5 deaths (3 less than yesterday). The rate per 100.000 population has dropped to 500.7.
In the six towns that I report on there are a total of 30 new cases. Los Gallardos has 2, Turre 4, Mojácar 0 (for the third consecutive day), Vera 16, Garrucha 8 and Bédar 0 (also for the third consecutive day).
Cured cases total 41. Los Gallardos has 1, Turre 7, Mojácar 4, Vera 23, and Garrucha 6.
No more deaths have been recorded in the six towns.
These figures, and again I stress need to be discussed by the government mean that Los Gallardos, Turre, Mojácar, Garrucha and Bédar will be in Level 4 tier 1 where non-essential businesses can open and only Vera remains in Level 4 tier 2.
NO PERIMETERS ARE OPEN.
Here are the latest figures with yesterday’s figures in (brackets).
Los Gallardos - Total number of cases 239 (237), cured cases 189 (188), active cases 46 (45), deaths 4 (4) and 964.9 per 100.000 (999.3).
Turre - Total number of cases 259 (255), cured cases 175 (168), active cases 81 (84), deaths 3 (3) and 819.9 per 100.000 (846.3).
Mojácar - Total number of cases 530 (530), cured cases 314 (310), active cases 202 (206), deaths 14 (14) and 531.1 per 100.000 (693.4).
Vera - Total number of cases 1391 (1375), cured cases 1071 (1048), active cases 301 (308), deaths 19 (19) and 1076.7 per 100.000 (1165).
Garrucha - Total number of cases 588 (580), cured cases 397 (391), active cases 186 (184), deaths 5 (5) and 861.3 per 100.000 (934.9).
Bédar - Total number of cases 28 (28), cured cases 19 (19), active cases 9 (9), deaths 0 (0) and 508.1 per 100.000 (508.1).
Stay safe everybody.

Clarification
Good morning everybody.
I have been asked by several people for clarification of what is / what is not happening today and will we be able to go out from Saturday?Starting with the "will we be able to go out" question, in the words of comedian Micky Flanagan, there is a chance that we will be able to "go out" but we will not be able to "go out out". If you do not know Micky's routine then please ignore this paragraph and I will move on.
Over the last few weeks our local towns have been categorised as being in Level 4, tier 1 or 2.
Level 4 tier 1 are towns with between 500 and 1,000 new cases reported in the last 14 days per 100,000 population.
The restrictions in this category are that the perimeters are closed but non-essential businesses can open.
Level 4 tier 2 are towns with over 1,000 new cases reported in the last 14 days per 100,000 population.
The restrictions in this category are that the perimeters are closed and non-essential businesses cannot open.
So, if today the 1,000 per 100,000 figure for Los Gallardos is below 1,000 (currently at 999.3) then there is a chance that we will be able to go out to bars in Los Gallardos.
If the figure goes above 1,000 then non-essential businesses should remain closed.
Only when the figure per 100,000 drops below 500 will the perimeter be open and we be able to go out of Los Gallardos.
"What is happening today?" refers to meetings that may or may not be happening in which our "fate" will be decided.
It has been reported that today there is a meeting of the Territorial Committee on High Impact Public Health Alerts and not a committee meeting at the Autonomous Level which has been held in previous weeks.
Therefore, I guess it is depending on today's figures for the committee to decide what happens in each town.
Finally, any references to orange, green or red zones you have read are nothing to do with the Junta de Andalucía classification of towns. They are proprietary to Brian White's league table.
I hope this has been of interest to you and has cleared up any confusion.
